Spot Grid Calculator

Direct answer

The Spot Grid Calculator returns per-round net profit and an annualized estimate, and also models equal-capital arithmetic buys to show the total coins, average cost and the floating loss at the range's lower bound.

The Spot Grid Calculator adds the questions that matter for spot: how many coins will I hold when fully filled, and what is my average cost? Besides per-round net and annualized estimates, it returns total coins, average cost and floating loss at the lower bound.

Spot grids have no liquidation, but they gradually convert capital into coins — knowing your fully-filled cost line shows how deep the drawdown can go and how hard recovery is.

Assumptions & notes
  • Assumes equal capital per arithmetic level: capital per grid = capital ÷ grids.
  • Coins are converted at each level's buy price: coins = Σ(capital per grid ÷ level price).
  • Average cost = capital ÷ total coins (near the mean of buy levels with equal capital).

Key data & facts

Capital per grid
capital ÷ gridsAssumes equal capital per arithmetic level
Total coins when fully filled
Coins = Σ(capital per grid ÷ buy level price)
Average cost
AvgCost = Capital ÷ CoinsNear the mean of buy levels with equal capital
Example
2500–3500, 50 grids, 1000 USDT~0.36 ETH fully filled; ~16% floating loss at 2500

What is the Spot Grid Calculator?

Spot grids do not amplify notional; the risk concentrates in holding coins — declines buy you more coins while shrinking their total value.

This tool shows returns (net/annualized) and holding cost (coins/average cost/lower-bound loss) on one page for a complete evaluation.

How to use it

  1. Enter range, grid count, capital, one-side fee and days per round.
  2. Click Calculate and first read net per round and annualized.
  3. Then check total coins and average cost when fully filled.
  4. Finally check the floating loss at the lower bound to confirm you can take it.

Formulas

Total coins & average cost when fully filled
Coins = Σ( capital per grid ÷ buy level price )
AvgCost = Capital ÷ Coins

Worked example

Range 2500–3500, 50 grids, 1000 USDT: 20 USDT per grid yields about 0.36 ETH in total coins when fully filled, at an average cost near the range mid-point of about 2990 USDT.

At 2500 (lower bound) the floating loss is roughly 16% of cost; if price keeps falling, the spot grid can only wait for recovery.

Practical tips

  • Treat coin-holding risk as the inherent cost of a spot grid. Grids earn from oscillation; the price is a temporarily full position during one-way declines.
  • Average cost is the anchor of recovery. Floating loss does not clear until price returns to average cost, so design ranges around prices you are willing to hold.

FAQ

Can a spot grid be liquidated?

No — spot has no forced liquidation. But once all capital is coins, further declines shrink the portfolio's value: an opportunity cost of being long, not a liquidation.

Why is the average cost near the range middle?

With equal capital and arithmetic levels, fully-filled cost equals the mean of buy levels, close to the range mid-point. That is the natural result of a spot grid.

Which markets suit a spot grid?

Range-bound markets where you are happy to hold the coin long-term. One-way rallies favor simply holding; deep declines mean accepting loss and waiting.
